• Making the sugar syrup
  • Place the sugar & water in a saucepan on high heat
  • Stir together until the sugar dissolves
  • Reduce the heat
  • Add the lemon juice & stir
  • Add the orange blossom & stir
  • Turn off the heat
  • Pour into a jar
  • Let it cool then refrigerate overnight
  • ​Preheat oven 400F/200C
  • Making the filling
  • Mix the sugar, cardamon & orange blossom water to the crushed walnuts
  • Making the baklawa
  • ​Brush some of the melted butter in a baking pan
  • Separate the shredded dough
  • Cut about 20cm sections of the shredded dough
  • Cover the other shredded dough under a damp cloth
  • Separate the shredded dough into small sections
  • ​Take another small section & place on the top (making a T)
  • ​Place a tablespoon of the walnut filling in the middle of the top section
  • ​Fold the sides on top of the walnut filling
  • ​Roll forward
  • ​Place on the baking tray
  • Brush all the melted butter on top of the baklawa
  • ​​Bake in the oven 25-30 minutes
  • Pour the cold sugar syrup all over the hot baklava
  • Sprinkle with some crushed pistachios

3 cups Walnuts (crushed)
1/4 cup Sugar
1 teaspoon Orange Blossom Water
1 teaspoon Cardamom


Sugar Syrup 
1 cup Sugar
1/2 cup Water
1 tablespoon Lemon Juice
1 teaspoon Orange Blossom Water
