540ml Chickpeas (rinsed & drained)
1 Onion (finely diced)
1/2 cup Dry Red Lentils
1/2 cup Fresh Parsley (finely chopped)
1/2 teaspoon Curry Powder
1/2 teaspoon Paprika
1/2 teaspoon Ground Black Pepper
1 teaspoon Salt
1 litre Water
Vegetable Oil for Frying
1/4 cup Flour

Chickpea & Red Lentil Patties

  • Rinse & strain the lentils
  • In a saucepan add the chickpeas, lentils & water
  • Cover & cook on low-med heat for 1/2 an hour
  • Strain the chickpeas & lentils, set aside to cool down
  • On high heat add some vegetable oil in small frypan
  • Add the onion & fry until soft
  • Place in a bowl & set aside to cool down
  • Add the strained chickpeas & lentils in a food processor
  • Add the fried onions, add the parsley, add the spices
  • Process until a smooth consistency
  • Place in bowl, add some flour & mix
  • Make patties with the dough
  • On high heat add some vegetable oil in a frypan
  • Place the patties in the frypan
  • Fry on each side until golden brown
  • Place on a paper towel plate to strain excess oil
