Dough
3 cups All Purpose Flour
1/4 cup Milk Powder (Nido)
1/2 cup Icing Sugar
1/2 teaspoon Cardamom
1/2 teaspoon Salt
1/3 cup Butter (room temp)
2 Eggs (room temp)
1/2 cup Warm Milk
1 teaspoon Sugar
8gms Active Dry Yeast


Filling Ingredients
1 cup Raw Unsalted Pistachios
1/2 cup Sweetened 
Desiccated Coconut
1/4 cup Sweetened 
Condensed Milk
1 cup Nutella
Crushed Pistachios

Chocolate & Pistachio Breaded Bread

Ingredients

Directions

  • ​Add the yeast in the warm milk (100F/38C)
  • Add the sugar, mix together & set aside for 
    5 minutes to activate

  • Add the flour, icing sugar, milk powder, salt & cardamom to a sift & mix together in a bowl
  • Add the flour mixture in a mixer
  • Place the dough hook
  • Mix on low speed
  • Add the butter, add the eggs & add the yeast mixture
  • Knead the dough until it doesnt stick to the side of the bowl
  • Grease a large bowl with some oil
  • Place the dough in the bowl
  • Cover with plastic wrap & tea towel
  • Let it rise for 1 hour

Making the Pistachio Paste:

  • Pour some boiling water in the pistachios & 
    set aside for 15 minutes

  • Peel off the shells with a paper towel
  • Place the raw pistachios in a food processor
  • Process until smooth
  • Scrape the sides
  • Add the condensed milk
  • Add the coconut
  • Mix together
  • Place the pistachio paste in a bowl
  • Divide the dough into 2
  • ​Roll 1 ball of dough into a  rectangle
  • Spread the pistachio paste on the dough
  • Roll the dough forward
  • Cut the ends & Roll flat
  • ​​Using a sharp knife cut the dough in half
  • Using a braiding method, place 1 braid on top of the other
  • Place in a loaf pan lined with parchment paper & sprayed with non stick spray
  • Roll out 2nd piece of dough
  • Spread the nutella on top
  • Sprinkle the crushed pistachios on top
  • Roll the dough forward & Cut the ends
  • Using a sharp knife, cut the dough into 2
  • Using the braiding method, place 1 braid on top of the other
  • Place in a loaf pan lined with parchment paper & sprayed with non stick spray
  • Cover & let them rise for 1/2 an hour
  • For the egg wash, whisk 1 egg to some milk in a bowl
  • Brush the egg wash on the braided bread
  • Bake at 350F/180C for 30-40 mins
