2 cups Flour
1 teaspoon Baking Powder
1/2 teaspoon Salt
1/2 teaspoon Ground Cardamom
1/4 cup Cocoa Powder
1/2 cup Vegetable Oil
1 cup Sugar
1 cup Milk
1 teaspoon Vanilla
1 stick or 
1/2 cup Butter (room temp)
3 Eggs (room temp)

  • Sift the flour, baking powder, cardamom & salt in a bowl
  • ​Preheat oven 350F or 180C
  • Add the sugar & butter together in a mixer
  • Mix until well combined
  • Add the eggs one at a time
  • Add the vegetable oil & vanilla
  • Add the flour mixture a bit at a time
  • Alternate with pouring 1/2 of the milk until well combined
  • ​Pour 1/2 of the vanilla batter in a separate bowl
  • Sift the cocoa powder in that bowl
  • Mix together adding 1/2 of the milk
  • ​Add the rest of the milk in the vanilla batter & mix
  • ​Spray non-stick spray on a cake pan
  • ​Add alternating spoonfuls of the chocolate & vanilla batter in the pan
  • Using a skewer, swirl the batter around
  • ​Bake at 350F/180C for 1 hour
  • Test with a skewer if the cake is baked inside & set aside to cool
  • ​Let it cool completely before flipping
  • Let it cool & sprinkle icing sugar on top
