Directions

Sesame Seed Bread Rolls

Dough
3 cups All Purpose Flour
1 cup Lukewarm Water
1 teaspoon Salt
1 teaspoon Sugar
8gms Active Dry Yeast
1/4 cup Light Olive Oil


Bread Topping
2 tablespoons Date Molasses
1/2 cup Water
1-2 cups Sesame Seeds

  • ​Add the yeast in the lukewarm water (100F/38C)
  • Add the sugar, mix together & set aside for 
    5 minutes to activate

  • Add the salt to the flour & mix together
  • ​Pour the yeast mixture in a mixer
  • Add the oil
  • Place the dough hook & mix together
  • Add the flour gradually
  • ​Knead for at least 8 minutes
  • ​Place the dough in a lightly greased bowl
  • Cover with plastic wrap & tea towel
  • Let it rise for 1 hour
  • Preheat oven 450F/225C
  • The dough should have doubled in size
  • ​Lightly flour the work surface
  • ​Roll the dough into a log shape
  • Divide into 8 pieces
  • Shape into small balls & place on a tray
  • Cover with a tea towel
  • ​Take 1 piece & divide into 2
  • ​Roll from the middle to make a string shape
  • ​​Repeat with the 2nd piece making the same size
  • ​Connect one end
  • Keep lifting one end on top of the other to make a braid
  • ​​Connect the ends
  • Hold the braid from the top & using your other hand to roll the ends together
  • To make a plain roll, shape a long string shape
  • Cover the bread rolls for 15 minutes
  • Add the date mollasses in the water & mix together
  • ​Place in a flat shallow dish
  • ​Dip the bread rolls in the date mollasses first on both sides
  • ​Then dip in the sesame seeds on both sides
  • ​Place on a baking tray lined with parchment paper
  • Bake on top shelf for 20 minutes
  • ​Cover in a tea towel immediately from the oven
