2 cups All Purpose Flour
1 cup Crushed Walnuts
1/2 Icing Sugar
1/2 teaspoon Cardamom
1/2 teaspoon Salt
1 cup / 2 sticks Butter 
(room temperature)

Icing Sugar for Dusting


Date mixture
185gms Date Paste
2 tablespoons Butter
1/2 teaspoon Cardamom

Directions

  • To make the date mixture:
  • Melt the butter on high heat in a frypan
  • Add the date paste & cardamom
  • Mix together until the mixture is soft
  • Place in a bowl & set aside
  • To make the dough:
  • ​Sift the flour, salt, cardamom & icing sugar in a bowl
  • ​Add the crushed walnuts & mix together
  • ​Add the butter in a mixer & cream the butter
  • ​Add the flour mixture gradually
  • ​Mix until a cookie dough texture
  • Preheat oven 350F/180C
  • Take a spoonful of the date mixture & shape into small balls
  • Use a small icecream scoop to take a small piece of the dough
  • ​Make a small ball & make an indent in the middle to make an opening
  • Place the date ball in the dough
  • ​Close it up & shape into a ball
  • ​Place them on a baking tray lined with parchment paper
  • Bake in the oven for 30-40 minutes
  • Dip them into a bowl of icing sugar when they are warm
  • ​Place them on a cooing rack
